Kreutz to Represent the Philippines at AFF ChampionshipMANDALAY, Myanmar — Caitlyn Kreutz, a forward beginning her sophomore season at Cal Poly, has been selected to play for the Philippines Women's National Team at the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations Football Federation Championship.

In Group A, the Philippines will open against Thailand at 3 p.m. local time Tuesday (1:30 a.m. PDT) in Mandalarthiri Stadium, face Vietnam at 3 p.m. Myanmar time Thursday, and then take on Singapore on Saturday at 6 p.m. (4:30 a.m. California time).

Group B, meanwhile, includes the host country, as well as Malaysia, Timor-Leste and Australia's U-20s. The tournament semifinals are scheduled for Aug. 2, two days before the final and third-place matches (with each scheduled again for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. kickoffs both days).

Thailand is the defending champion, topping Myanmar a year ago for the event's eighth title, 3-2.

The Philippines, coached by Letecia Bautista, is sending a 20-player roster. Two other forwards join Kreutz in the attack, which is looking to replace former Seattle Reign FC reserve Joana Houplin (the tournament's leading scorer in 2013).

Last fall, Kreutz earned All-Big West Freshman honors, and also made the All-Tournament Team at the Virginia Nike Classic while finishing with seven goals (tied for the conference's fifth-best total).

Fellow Cal Poly sophomore Stephanie Magellan is also consistently competing in international play, having been invited to multiple Brazilian national team training camps over the past two years. (Brazil is currently preparing for the U-20 World Cup, scheduled for Nov. 13 to Dec. 3 in Papua New Guinea.)

They're two of 25 players back for the Mustangs, set to welcome eight newcomers in early August.

Cal Poly will open the season at home with an exhibition against Westmont at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 before returning to Alex G. Spanos Stadium to host an intrasquad scrimmage at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.
