Timperley and District JFL

Jfl / February 28, 2018

Being affiliated to the FA, TDJFL League and the 2 local county FA organisations is a great reward for the club and is a major recognition of the the hard work put in by all our club members.

Here you can read about the League’s and FA organisations and what their aims are for junior football in your area.

The league now has over 50 Clubs and 400+ teams competing within all the age groups.

Gaining Charter Standard Status has been very important to the league and more clubs are embarking down this route and there are about 70% of member clubs holding charter status and many are working towards achieving it in the near future. The league will help any member club if requested to achieve charter standard status.

The new website introduced last season has been well received by Member Clubs with regard to the new ease of use and structure. The league can now make quick changes as and when required.

We try to maintain our high standards every season for all member clubs and I trust that we can continue to work together and further promote our league at local, district and county level.

The FA Charter Standard programme supported by McDonald’s is a kitemark, which recognises and rewards high quality levels of provision in club and league football. The kitemark is awarded to clubs and leagues that are well run, sustainable, which place child protection, quality coaching and safety paramount.

The FA Charter Standard kitemark was launched in 2001 and now has 6800 clubs, with 653 advanced level Community Clubs and 300 leagues. The kitemark is a major focus of The FA’s £200 million FA National Game Strategy and has improved coaching, the number of girls’ football teams and safeguarding children.

There are three levels of FA Charter Standard Awards for clubs to recognise the different standards. The entry level is an ‘FA Charter Standard Club’, the next level is an ‘FA Charter Standard Development Club’ and the most advanced ‘FA Charter Standard Community Club’. Each advanced level requires additional criteria to be met.

Any club can apply for FA Charter Standard status, even a one-team club. The criteria is challenging, but is attainable for every club. Once awarded, FA Charter Standard clubs and leagues are given an annual health check to ensure the standards of provision are maintained.

Criteria for achieving the entry level award include having a trained Welfare Officer, CRB checks for all volunteers, Emergency Aid-trained volunteers linked to each team, Respect programme sign-up, a Level One coach for each youth team, appropriate club administration in place and a volunteer co-ordinator.

The ‘hidden’ benefits are key to most clubs working towards the kitemark. By achieving an FA Charter Standard Club Award, you are demonstrating to all members, parents, sponsors and the public, that you are a well-organised, safe Club offering opportunities for all.

The Cheshire County Football Association was founded in 1878 and has since been responsible for the organisation and development of football within the County boundaries established in 1927. The key administrative functions of The Cheshire County FA revolves around the affiliation of clubs, competitions and leagues, registration of players, recruitment, coaching and assessment of match officials and administering discipline.

Over the last few years there have been major changes in the structure and purpose of the organisation. Firstly the organisation became incorporated and is now, therefore, The Cheshire County FA Limited. Secondly in addition to the administrative function the County FA leads the development of football throughout Cheshire.

The organisation now boasts a thriving Football Development Department which has progressed rapidly over recent years. FA initiatives such as Coach Education, Child Protection, Charter Standard, Mini-Soccer, Girls and Women’s Football, Disability Football, Volunteer Support and Education are all dealt with by the Development Department.

The focus of the County FA has changed from that of purely a legislative body to that of a proactive organisation delivering quality methods for increasing the opportunities to play football for people of all ages and abilities. The aim is to raise standards and reward people, many of whom are volunteers, for their contribution to football in Cheshire.
